Frequently Asked Questions

We are always here for you! If you do not see an answer to your concern, feel free to reach out to us.

01

Who do you buy catalytic converters from?

We buy from BUSINESSES only. Our clients include junkyards, scrap yards, dismantlers, towing companies and recyclers etc. No individuals. No walk-ins.

02

Do you buy catalytic converters by-piece?

No, we only purchase on an assay basis. We offer hedging services and quick payment.

03

Why should I sell to DOWA?

Because DOWA:

  1. Has a leading share in recycled PGM smelting
  2. Is fair, accurate, and honest
  3. Pays fast!

Catalytic converters are ultimately smelted and refined to be reused in the production of new catalytic converters. We are the smelter. Get the most value out of your material with us.

04

How much do I get paid?

You will be paid based on the actual metal content, calculated using the PPM, recovery rate, treatment charge, and refining charge as agreed between you and us. A finance charge will apply if hedging is requested. Other charges may apply, but all terms will be clearly outlined in the agreement.

05

How soon can I get paid?

A provisional payment (80%) can be made on the same day we receive your material (de-canned and crushed) at our sampling plant. The final payment will be made upon receipt of the ICP results. Learn more.

06

What kind of license/documents do I need to sell to DOWA?

Requirements vary by country, state, county, or township. While we can offer guidance, you are responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable laws. We do not conduct business with parties found to be non-compliant. Review our onboarding process and required documents here.

07

How big should I make my lot?

1,000 lbs (500 pieces) or more.

NPGM USA has three sampling lines:
L1 & L2 – for larger lots (2,000–4,000 lbs)
L3 – for smaller lots (1,000–2,000 lbs)

Do you have any additional charges or restrictions for SiC/Silica?

No. There are no hidden charges or restrictions on SiC material. Carbon is required in our smelting process, and we can control the amount of carbon that enters the furnace.
