DOWA Group started as a mine and a smelting plant of black ore in 1884. Unlike copper and other types of ore, black ore contains a rich variety of valuable metals. These valuable metals would be useless and even harmful without a proper extraction method. DOWA successfully developed a unique technique, making it a global one-of-a-kind smelter for processing complex ores.
In 1991, DOWA expanded its services to recycling of spent auto catalysts.

America is the most important market for recycling used catalytic converters. DOWA Metals and Mining America (DMMA) serves to meet all of our client’s needs. Our sales team is experienced with rich knowledge ranging from catalytic converters, the process of sampling and assaying, to smelting and refining the metal.
Sampling and assaying are conducted at our new plant in Pottstown, PA – NPGM USA, Inc. The plant contains three sampling lines which are capable of processing 1,000,000 lbs of total material every month. This facility is a true embodiment of our know-how and expertise.
Samples are sent to Japan by air for the final chemical assay (ICP).
